After Hawk Moth is defeated, and Ladybug and Cat Noir's identities being revealed in the process, someone else approaches the Miraculous of the Butterfly. 30 years later Hugo and Emma Agreste-Cheng  discover the Miracle Box, tucked away in their mom's office. They know nobody has been akumatized for nearly 30 years, but when someone becomes akumatized, Emma and Hugo take charge and assemble a new team to defeat the new Butterfly miraculous holder, who might be more familiar to them than they thought.

This isn't your normal watching Miraculous Ladybug Book Marinette's life has fallen apart, she is now the Chinese Zodiac Miracle box Guardian, the Miraculous cure has stopped healing her, Chat Noir no longer loves her, Lila has taken all her friends, her allies identities have been exposed, Fu has died, she is getting sick for some reason, and now Lila is framing her for being Mayura, Hawkmoth's assistant. To make it worse an Akuma calling herself Show Mistress has zapped Marinette and Lila back into the past, trapping them in a time loop.
