Harper and her family move into an apartment complex in New York City. Her dad tells her a story about a girl who lived there centuries before, and how she dies. Harper begins to notice some strange things going on- like the window in her room opening and closing ever so often, and the closet that her dad told her about in his story. And her life is hanging on a thin thread...

But what she doesn't know is that her life will be turned upside down in a matter of days.
