Thomas was fourteen years old, one of the youngest at Valley Forge. He had to leave his family, his friends, his future behind; he was drafted into the Continental Army. Thomas hated everything about Valley Forge -- the cold so sharply intense that he couldn't even feel it anymore, the blood and cries of wounded soldiers, the never-ceasing feeling of being starved to death. There was only one exception to his resentment towards this nightmare of a camp: Samuel. A wise old man of 64 years, Samuel was the only thing that kept Thomas going. When the time comes to fight at Trenton, will Thomas and Samuel make it out together, alive? A compelling story of tragedy and hardships but also of passion and generosity, this inspirational story will show the meaning of true friendship between an old man and a young boy.

an almost decade old story. * "one tragedy changed their lives." a story with dialogues and minimal description, in which a boy ends up in the hospital after a car accident and his friend slowly collapsing under the weight of his tortured mind. but what actually happened that one fateful night and what other secrets will be unraveled? * two main male pov's, recognizable through italics and normal text. a story written unlike any other. i hope you'll find comfort in it just as much as i have. be aware that this is a realistic story. * slow-burn start, but it picks up. don't let the number of chapters fool you; the average reading time for each is less than a minute . i came up with the story of the two friends when i was still quite young and i'm by no means a writer, so it deeply apologize if it sucks ass. feel free to vote and comment or point out any spelling mistakes or confusing paragraphs. it needs some editing and possibly some small changes or added chapters for clarity and better character development, but as for now, this first completed story will do. original story: around 2014. first upload: 2020. re-upload: 2023.Complete

I am what most would later call a War's Child. A child born in the first few years of the civil war that wreaked havoc upon Daquan for twenty years. But mostly, I'm a villager. One of the people that live in the villages, starving and fighting against death at every turn. Yet, I'm none too pleased to be pulled from my familiar life only to be thrown into the life of the Military Academy of Daqu. This is the first time I don't have to worry about having enough food to last the day, about freezing to death or being attacked while I'm sleeping. I'm certainly not the King's number one fan, but if I'm given a chance to change the future and fight for those who're suffering out there... I will. Even if it means putting up with stupid city people who don't believe the war is that bad. I'm glad to help, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to because I've considered smashing my head against the wall more than once, believe me. ~ Cali Rayan is a villager given the chance to have a high role in the war. Cassandra is a kind and innocent woman who does domestic services at their home. Just as much as her husband is devoted to the army, she is devoted to him. Unfortunately, she doesn't get any appreciation for it and is always neglected by him. It was 1860, and the preparations for the upcoming battles have started (the ones that are part of what we call today, the Civil War), which also meant that it was time for Alexander to leave Cassandra for some while. They didn't quite have a mended relationship by the time he left for the battles, and they have been thinking that this was how it was going to remain. But fate had other plans for them.Complete
