Elisa brookle has been a skilled assassin her entire life-a murderer, too. It all started when she killed her parents. It was never meant to happen, yes, but it did. They're dead. Jil, a woman with a peculiar hat that looked an awfully lot like a real stuffed British Shorthair kitten and hair that looked like it was true gold, took young Elisa with her to the most dangerous and secretive organization to exist, and trained her to be one of the best assassins the world has ever known.

But Elisa doesn't want any of it. When ordered to murder a man, she flees from everything she's ever known. She then creates a new life, hopeful that this one won't get all ruined. But hope is dangerous and unreliable, because it doesn't take long until more and more death comes to Toronto. A murderer has come to town, and Elisa knows it is Jil's doing.
