Sparta, but make it post-apocolyptic. Lelex is furious to be withdrawn from the prestigious soldier training, Agoge, to take the place of his missing older brother, the heir apparent, in training to become king. Determined to find his brother and rejoin his military training, Lelex must trust his only ally, his little sister. For no apparent reason, there is an assassin posing as a servant trying to kill him. Everybody at court has a secret, and if there's anything Lelex knows from Agoge, it's that he can trust no one but himself to set things straight. Mistaken identies, murder, revenge, and betrayal abound. And Lelex has a deep, dark serect, one that with undoubtedly get him killed. The kids are definiltey not all right.
