Deacon spent all his time playing his video games, especially Fortnite. John just wanted to go to bed. So when Deacon told his dad someone was after him, it made it hard for either of them to go to sleep. Especially after seeing him in the window.
It wasn't until then John finds out his video game was the source of the problem. Now, in order to face this man, they actually have to play the game to figure out how to get rid of him, before they get taken out.
