In the second book of the MM series, Molly continues to try to heal from the trauma of the crash that killed her boyfriend and the ultimate betrayal from her best friend. Trying to heal and move past sustained trauma proves to be extremely difficult due to new traumas. Molly refuses to give in to her pain and confides in new confidants and engages in new experiences, furthering modifying the person she was into the person she will become.
Due to Molly's continued sense of guilt for Curtis's death, she depends on her nightmares as a source of pain to remind her she is alive. Molly searches for other things that temper the numbness that is creeping in. As the burn within begins to dwindle, Molly tries to do or think things to re-ignite that fire. She searches for solace in new endeavors such as tattoos, drinking, drug use, different sexual experiences, and "having a good time."
Molly is happy for all the love she is surrounded by, but she can not help to feel envious. She was supposed to have this happy life with Curtis. College, marriage, house, kids... all of it and now... Molly has to modify her future and is very unsure what it holds. She finds it hard to focus and face the actuality of her new reality. The biggest question she keeps avoiding is, what now?
