When communities are established to serve as safe havens from the demented who roam the outside world, can the citizens within the communities truly be trusted?

Sixteen-year-old Jesse Holbrook's life is about to change forever. 

Jesse and his father, Charlie, are invited to Atwood Community, the most prestigious community around, sparking a renewed hope for a better life amidst the desolation surrounding them. The community unlocks a whole world of new experiences for Jesse, such as skateboards,a learning academy, even electricity, while Charlie is tasked to manage a top-secret mission with questionable motives. 

Established community teenagers, Riley, Eden, Leo, and The Chapman brothers welcome Jesse into their friend group and the gang begin to share their own experiences of love, loss, heartache, and even unexpected imprisonment. As attacks from the demented creatures erupt amonst the community, and deaths of beloved members riddle the community with fear, heartbreaking secrets are revealed about its trusted leader who will stop at nothing to hold his reins of power and manufacture a community he deems as the perfect solution. Jesse and his new group of friends begin to question their once viewed perfect home.
