We meet Amelia Newsom-Walters, a 16-year-old black girl adopted into a multi-race prominent British-American family. She struggles to come to terms with her newfound wealth, status, and family not long before she comes to meet Theodore Ahlgren, a privileged boy who comes to help her find clarity and likewise with her to him.
