Climate change has gotten the best of us and planet Earth has been stuck with a second ice age. Afterwards the animals have taken over and formed a government...but they haven't forgiven the humans for destroying the Earth.
(A poetic-ish kind of thing, 3rd person, short story, 5000 words roughly)

War for Change
Humanity used to thrive in 2035 until a group of scientists started playing God. This science team was recruited by all the top world leaders and they've begun receiving demands for a super soldier, and they began experimenting on animals, which gave the scientists expected results, but like all experiments, there was a chance for failure. The humanoid animals, or Anthros for short, started getting smarter, faster than the scientists expected, or reacted. The Anthros broke free and took what was left of the 'White Mist,' the substance that created them, and put it into the planet's air supply. Long story short, most animals worldwide have begun transforming into Anthros, and started devastating the world's militaries before attacking cities. Humanity is now facing extinction with their last millions while the Anthro civilization is over 2 Billion strong and counting. The war between Humans and Anthros has lasted for over 50 years, and while humans may be disadvantaged against the Anthros higher strength, speed, endurance, and intelligence, they still beat Anthros with improvisation, adaptability, and tactics. The war has destroyed all four Eastern continents, leaving behind a creature both Humans and Anthros call Reapers, who are husks of the person they were. The Anthros have near complete control over North America and are fighting Humanity in South America, but the main human bases are located on the Hawaiian islands. With death seeming inevitable for human kind, can nothing stop humanity from extinction? Zero has just graduated from high school with good marks and a scholarship. His family wanted to celebrate, so they said they would wait for him. He went back to grab his wallet, and as he turned around, he started falling in a wormhole, closing afterwards. The virus began in 2092, and has struck the planet earth due to a failed science experiment, and it's beginning to get worse with every second that passes. And there's no one to stop it. people began to rebel against the government, and the planet grew cold, with a variant of the virus polluting the climate, causing acid rains and at times, chilling temperatures. for three years, scientists searched and tested for an antidote, and the didn't find it, until now. However, some would call it a cure, and some would call it a curse. The scientists of course needed subjects to make sure it would work, and they selected teenagers and young adults all across the world for it between the ages of 15 and 23, only to find, the antidote had an insane side effect. Special abilities, which altered anyone who would take it. Scientists cancelled it immediately, but it was too late. way too late.. ( THIS STORY IS INSPIRED BY THE MOVIE, " the darkest minds")
