The event forces all passengers to head for the shore. Many don't survive. Those who do suffer the unrelenting wrath of mother nature and find themselves trapped with no idea what to do next. Everything would have been social chaos if not for human survival instincts, resulting in a sense of comradery and cooperation. Completely isolated and without communication with the outside world, most modern technologies must be completely reinvented for the purpose of returning home. Led by the captain, his right-hand man, and Pei, an ambitious bibliophile, the community races to assemble the raw materials around them. He is a fair but cruel master (calling himself a Lord) and some people refuse to work for him. These people manage to escape the oppression of the Lord and live out on the wasteland that was once a great country. Some band together to make right communities and others rough it out by themselves, scavenging for a living.
