Everyone thought that humanity would bring an end to itself with nuclear war always on the horizon, little did we realize that what would happen would be much worse!

Nearing the end of the 21st century the population of the world has exceeded 12 billion due to advances in medical science eradicating nearly all disease as well as bringing the average life expectancy to 100 years.

A battle for land and resources broke out, lasting several decades furthering advancements in medical science leading to the creation of super soldiers or demons as some would say. All it took was a small tweak to the specimens DNA exposing the world to the most dangerous weapon in recent memory, man!

It all started with basic enhancements; super strength capable of lifting twenty times their body weight, super speed exceeding 60 miles per hour, and regenerative abilities healing normally fatal wounds in minutes. Everything fell apart when these "demons" began breeding forming mutations in the offspring. Lasers from eyes, igniting the air on fire, creating matter from nothing. This war continued until seemingly overnight 99% of humanity collapsed dead, ending the war as well as society as we once knew it.

60 parts Complete Mature
"It's human nature. It's instinct to survive, no matter the cost." The world has fallen into desolation. The apocalypse has already started and finished, leaving some of the surviving ones with strange powers and mysterious scars. The world has ended, according to some, and is now in a state of rebirth. Others say it hasn't ended yet and that it's only going to get worse. The remaining people have grouped together in packs and gangs, raiding the desolate cities and avoiding the ones called the Destroyers, who capture and torture the remaining survivors. No one is safe. One fifteen year old boy knows this better than anyone. He and his older sister lived together, sticking to the dark alleys of their abandoned city, and survived for years after the apocalypse, until the Destroyers came and took her away, reigning terror on the few who remained in the city. The boy, desperate to find someone to help him save his sister, leaves the city and finds one of the youngest cooperative packs in North America, called the Raiders, comprised of unwanted individuals with the strange powers left from the destruction of years past. Their leader, a destructive insomniac, promises to help him in return for the skills and usefulness this young boy seems to possess, but something disrupting sends waves of unease through the Raiders, something about a forgotten past and talk of a mutiny. "Maybe there's more to life than just surviving." ... Rated C for Caution. Though it's rated mature, there is no bad language or vivid descriptions of sexual contact. It does have very strong themes. Please read the two important notices in the intro. Read at your own risk. Thanks. {COMPLETED} "now that you've had your fun electrocuting me, would you care to hop in the backseat?" ---------------------------------------------------------- Freak DNA. That's what I like to call it. The fault to my genetic code. More often than not, it's a curse. The static running through my blood gave me a name. A cruel, daunting label of a measly bug. A roach. That's what I am to them, to the government. Roach; the nameless monster with electricity for a sense and lightening as a second nature. It ruined my life, the sparking currents playing tag in my mind, running around and bumping into everything, shaking me loose. The government, actually. They ruined my life. My curse just gave them a reason. You see, the normal population with ordinary DNA, they don't know about the people like me. The roaches of the world. We don't get that kind of recognition at the camps. There, we are only one thing in the military's eyes. We are weapons and we will act like it. Everyone else out there, bathing in the goodness they don't know they've got, they don't know about the roaches their stepping on. As long as their getting closer to the sky, they don't care what they stand on to reach it. They don't know about the sparkling dreamer that's killed 7 people before her 17th birthday. They don't about the ghost of a girl peaking around corners for her entire life because even home wasn't safe. They don't know about the fighter of steel and iron sucking on his bloody lip courtesy of the wars he battles in as nothing but a shadow. They don't know about the masked villain who would do anything to see the army they lead claim the throne They don't know about us. But they will, because we will rise. And when we arrive, we will arrive violently. ___________________________________________ Started: 10.06.15 Finished: 3.17.16

In an alternate timeline, the human race found a way to create superpowers. By extracting energy from stars and inserting that energy into humans, 'powers' were created. Powers allowed humans to gain unnatural abilities such as flight, invisibility, super strength or in other words, superpowers. Of course, with the introduction of something so revolutionary, people rose up in the hundreds of thousands in an event known as the Great Rebellion. The insurgents banded together under a single banner and became collectively known as the Shadow, marking the beginning of the Cosmic Wars. Out of the darkness, the Gazers were born. Using what remained of the power technology, the Gazers singlehandedly perished the evil and ended the conflict. However, there was a price to pay. Powers put a toll on the human body and had serious mental and physical repercussions. The solution was to recruit children from the age of 13 to 18 and train them so their bodies would adapt to their powers, eventually becoming immune to all negative side effects. The end of the Cosmic Wars brought forth a new age of peace and prosperity that the world had never seen before. However, the long reign of the Gazers has already begun to crumble, cracks showing up within the very thread of society. Their rule will not last for much longer. The Shadow will rise once again. Or in other words, my unintentional and accidental ripoff of My Hero Academia :/ Blurb is a work in progress

A phenomenon born of suppression, the awakening of long-dormant evolutionary powers ripped through the population like wildfire, sowing fear and confusion wherever it was realised. Most people faced the oncoming wave of rapid evolutionary change and simply withered in its path. Seeking refuge from a society that intruded on every semblance of solace an exodus from the great metropolis began, forever unbalancing the status quo as civilisation buckled under its own weight. As cities were abandoned in pursuit of pastoral life, heroes emerged to stand tall in the face of impending dark ages. Armed with their newfound powers, they became the bedrock of emerging communes, fragile refuges and repositories of art, culture and science- hoping to bridge the void into a new age. Yet to a select, special few they were all but playthings. Able to master every aspect of these powers this special few were gods in a devolved world, bending and shaping their abilities to their will be it through scientific pursuit, fantastical vision of megalomaniacal ambition. Dark motivations emerge, ambitions collide, and tools are unleashed as the battle lines are drawn. A race against time begins, with the very fate of humankind in play.
