"Will you join me, Nemesis Hale?", he whispered. His face was only mere inches away, the knife at my throat dripping with the blood of the dead man who lay just a few feet away from me. 

I don't want to die. Not yet anyway. But it looks like I had no choice. It was either this or being fucked up in an alley.

"I'm waiting .... make up your mind. I don't intend to spend all day flaunting fake mercy"

My breath caught in my throat and I felt the oncoming panic. It had only hit me that I could really end up being strung like beef in a meat truck.

"I'll join you", I croaked out as bravely as I could. 

He smiled, bringing his face even closer to mine.

"Wise choice."

I spoke up again before he could change his mind. 

"But on one condition."

I threw down my last card. 
I was already fucked.
