You shouldn't have fallen in love with him. If you hadn't, you could have just gone on living your perfectly perfect life. You could have continued being the top of your class, continued throwing and being invited to lavish parties, continued your search for the perfect man that would please your family.
If you didn't fall in love, maybe none of this would have happened.
But love works in strange ways, and Gale Hawthorne was just too irresistible. Stormy eyes, chiseled features, chestnut locks, brooding looks. He was like a burning flame that could withstand the most bitter of cold, and he was all yours.
But when you live in a world of hurt and violence, flings like this never last. Kept apart by the world you live in, you and Gale seek to tear it apart.
Unfortunately, in order to do just that, one must take down the entire family that corrupts the government. And so, in order to bring back happiness to the districts, snow must do what snow does best. Snow must fall.
But Snow isn't going down without taking a few unfortunate souls with him...

The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination. Please do not attempt to recreate it in any form. Additionally, if ideas in this work are similar to that of other writings, it is purely coincidental and I apologize deeply for any inconvenience. When I was eleven. My whole world changed. Katniss' dad died in a mining accident. You think it wouldn't affect me but I loved him just as much as Katniss did. Maybe even more than I loved my own father. I felt bad, that my own dad couldn't compare to Katniss'. He loved me too though. Loved me like his own. The day he died was the first in a long line of times I have ever seen Katniss cry. She never cried before then but she cried a lot after. Katniss' mother was suppose to get a job after his passing, she didn't. They were starving, dying. I decided to help. After school I would drag Katniss into the woods by her feet. We'd never gone in there without her father. It seemed like a scarier place without him. After some time it wasn't so scary. I don't know what made me volunteer for Katniss. When I heard her name echo throughout the crowd my heart stopped. It wasn't my name, but it was my best friends. There was no way she could survive in there.
