The town of Ark Creek is your classic, run of the mill forest town. Small amount of citizens, clumps of forests separating buildings with only gravelled paths linking them, a few stores. It's all Wisteria knows, having been born and lived her 16 years of life there. It's beautiful, yes, but gets boring on rainy days where the water hits the trees around her house. Her dad is at work all day, and all her friends are either not allowed to go out in the rain or on holiday. It IS the summer holidays (well, summer. It rains too much for Wisteria to be happy), and they're all going to fancy resorts, the beach, or the mountains. Netflix isn't enough to keep her occupied, and her mind can't be bothered to work on another painting in the old greenhouse attached to the house she turned into her studio.
Who would've thought a piece of paper would be enough to change her life? Not her, that's for sure.

A nice monster, but no less dangerous. She thinks the same of her own friends, so close they're nearly family. She didn't ask for this life, it was forced upon her one frigid winter evening. As it turned out, she owed her life to a pair of curious children, smart enough to shout for help as Sam lie beneath the beast, drenched in her own blood. She didn't ask for it, but was hers nonetheless. So she embraced her inner monster and used it to hunt down the very one that turned her. To bring him in safely or to end him warred in her mind. She longed for vengeance, but can't hurt his brother. In all this chaos, Sam has one rock, in Ada. An enigma--or as her best friend, Charlotte, put it once, a cryptid--Ada knocks her off her feet and then keeps her tantalizingly close to the truth of her cagey history. If not for Ada, the drive to bring down her attacker would be all consuming. She would like to think she was better than murder, but was she really? A genderqueer hillbilly and a haunted woman must break a generational curse that has entwined their lives in the abandoned coal-stripped mountains of the Pennsylvania Wilds. *** Desperate to flee a dark past, Finley drives off a cliff and prays to the ancient hemlocks below to catch her fall. But in the abandoned hollows of the Pennsylvania Wilds, everything comes at a price. Tasked by an undead Not-Deer, Finley must find the three talismans that mark the mountain's boundaries in order to break a century old curse, one that has not only haunted the women in her family for generations, but has also bound the supernatural beings to the mountain, including the dead. Fortunately, the handsome genderqueer hillbilly up the road, River Hawthorne, is just as eager [maybe too eager] to break the curse. Together, they navigate the woods where hungry trees walk and other demonic haunts roam, growing closer every moment. But breaking the curse also comes at a price and Finley must decide what freedom is worth when her past comes crawling back through the woods to haunt her. Her mother's words hit just as hard, reminding her that she's a disappointment. School isn't much better. No one notices when she's there, no one cares when she's gone. She's background noise, too exhausted to try anymore. And then the puddle appears. It shouldn't be there, not in this drought. When she kneels beside it, her reflection stares back. It blinks. It pulls her in. She thought she would die drowning in. But being alive, dragged into another world isn't the problem. Now she is important to this other world. Now, she is seen. But because she is so valuable, the General wants to use her. And possibly, someone that might want her to stay, for her. ▪️COSY ROMANCE▪️ "Some things can't wait indeed..." Elias leaned just slightly closer. "But maybe some moments are worth bad timing," he murmured, his tone carrying a weight that made her chest tighten. "What do you mean?" Cora stifled a whimper. He let out a quiet breath, eyes still on hers as his hand fell to his side, "This moment. Us. It'll find its time." **** When Cora Whitmore leaves behind a high-stress publishing job and a broken engagement, all she wants is stillness. Inheriting her late aunt's ramshackle countryside cottage seems like a sign; from whom, she's not sure, but it comes with ivy-covered walls, creaky floors, and a garden overrun with wild things. Just across the fence lives Elias Tidley, a reclusive goat keeper who spends his days making goat milk soap, honeyed cheeses and speaking mostly to animals. Stoic, grounded, and unreadable, he's everything Cora isn't, and yet somehow, he sees her. Not the version she tried to be in the city, but who she is now: messy, uncertain, and just beginning to bloom again. With help from a few mischievous goats and a community that quietly welcomes her in, Cora starts to imagine a life made of early peaceful mornings, soft-spoken companionship, and small, steady joys. But as the seasons shift and their bond deepens, Cora must decide whether she's brave enough to stay. For the land, for herself and for the man who never asked her to change a single thing.? 🔅Rated PG: Suitable for all ages. ------------------------------------------------- Cover Photo: Edited by @KimberlyTanithMarie using an image from Canva © All rights reserved 2025 I DO NOT consent to my story being translated, copied or otherwise reproduced by anyone.
