One moment young Mila Mikhailov is blowing out the candle on her birthday cake, the next she's being transported to Moscow in an armoured black van, with 7 other girls. The Red Room never gets easier over the years, the girls just learn to accept it, and even defiant Mila would inevitably break. Eventually trading in her KGB patch for a SHIELD badge, Mila's life looks up with a sister and new friends, Mila can forget about the Red Room. But anyone will tell you, the past isn't so easily forgotten, especially for Mila who has left a bigger path of wreckage than an atomic bomb. When recruited for a SHIELD team by Agent Coulson, her path takes a turn, one that can only lead to Mila confronting herself and facing the demons that have plagued her since she was only a year old.
