Nat looked into Phoenix's emerald green eyes. She had a bit of paint on her nose and quite a lot of her hands. She was still standing in the same position she was when Nat walked in.
Nat found herself thinking of the three words Phoenix spoke earlier. They had hurt her more than a bullet, and she didn't think her feelings were true until Phoenix said, "just an ally."
