Addy Wells is an aspiring writer. At least she was. Murders around town all point to her, as her murder mysteries that haven't been published tell the story of each death and lead police back to her page by page. She maintains her innocence, but with one follow swoop, it is said she cannot tell reality from fantasy.

She is sent to a mental institution. One with a not so shiny reputation, as people are abused, drugged, beaten, or even killed by staff behind the scenes. That's when she meets Dee.

Dee is a maintenance man, one that only ever goes by the nickname Dee, and has a heart of steel. Addy does her best to get closer to him, get sympathy from him so she can break free and prove her innocence. Prove she can tell fact from fiction. But doctors tell her there is no Dee. That he isn't real...
