Rebecca Eustis entered the army at 15 under false pretences to protect her sister, her units mission went awry and she ended up in enemy hands, tortured for information. After she recused she is discharged from the army and takes her sister to Forks where she is haunted by her PTSD. She gets a job at the local diner and enrolls in the local high school. When a fire breaks out at her work where she is injured and has a panic attack resulting in a trip to the hospital. She meets the patriarch of the Cullen family whilst getting cleared for school and work.
