I didn't expect it to reach this amount of popularity so I will devote my time to bettering it in the future. ------------------ Every year, in our village and the neighbouring villages, we encounter, on what is suppose to be the most divine and celebrated day of the year, a visit from the 'big bad wolf'. At least that's what the children call him. Adults like to call him "inhuman" or a "wild ravenous monster". However, the majority settle for "beast". No one knows why he ruins this specific day for us, the day we can celebrate our species: werewolves. Some despise him for taking this day from us and forcefully exchanging our merry and joyful laughs to screams of fear. When that specific day of the year approaches us, none of us are ever prepared for it. He always comes at night. We are told to lock our windows, draw our curtains and our doors. We are told to hide. There's one main rule that we have: don't look at him. Because if you do, no one knows what'll happen to you. Maybe that's the worse part, not knowing your fate. Not knowing the outcome of your foolish actions. If he comes roaming your streets, you have a right to be scared. Us "maidens" are always encouraged to hide ourselves the most, it's women that he supposedly wants more. However, I believe that that is a cautionary excuse. He'll take you, no matter how old or how young, no matter how innocent or how corrupt, no matter your gender, all it takes is a look. She has done well to avoid the scaly creatures and keep her distance from them even while working as a toxicologist who researches and makes lifesaving cures for snake bite victims. However, working in such a field doesn't completely keep her from interacting or coming close to the animals she fears so much, especially when she's sent on an expedition along with some explorers to an uninhabited island to research and discover new species of plants and animals as well as search for an elusive and highly venomous serpent that is said to inhabit the strange isle. It also doesn't help when their helicopter suddenly malfunctions and the group ends up crash-landing in the middle of a dense jungle with no way of contacting the outside world for help. and to make things worse for poor Lyra, something seems to be stalking her in this new and unfamiliar environment. It's bad enough she's trapped with no way home in such a dangerous place, but when she comes across signs of a monster lurking somewhere on this uncharted isle, she comes to find that the worst of her nightmares have only just begun. because the thing that's been stalking her from the shadows as fangs and scales just like the creatures she fears the most, with intentions of keeping her trapped with it on the isle.
