"We are spinning our fates, good or evil, never to be undone." - William James.
Kōkyū Heiwa has always been a kind-hearted child: generous to enslaved people, speaking out against injustice, and fighting for what he believes is right. King Hijō is less than thrilled to find out his son is not as ruthless as he, and their subjects feel the same. Then, upon finding him conspiring against his reign, the King strapped Kōkyū into a pod and sent him to the "World Above." Kōkyū must now learn to survive independently, without anyone else to help him.
Then he discovers Kyōdo, a mysterious force that enables the user to do miraculous wonders: heal sickness, walk on water, and even fly. This sudden increase in power makes him a prime target for those who seek to wreak havoc on the World Above, including the King. What exactly are their plans? And what does the King have in store for his estranged offspring? As the terrors of this new adventure grow, Kōkyū is confronted with his biggest question yet.
