Life is like an arranged marriage. Parents expect gratitude when we have none. Once we are in it, we have to commit to it. Some of us may not have wanted it but, what we want doesn't matter. Now, we can get a divorce but that's a lot of paperwork. Many of us indeed turn out to be genuinely happy at the end of it but that's not the point. What we need is a choice, to stay or to leave. And denying us that through social pressure is just playing dirty.

Everyone thinks he should have recovered after that much time, but Allan still haunts Elliot every night. He struggles to maintain relationships with his family, and despite a coworkers interest he can't summon up the courage to date. Elliot is living for the past, because to live for the present means he'll have to live with a hole in his heart.
