For as long as anyone in Elfame can remember, the Seelie and Unseelie Courts have been locked in a savage war, losing countless men, women and children in one bloody battle after another. Finally, hope seems to come in the form of a treaty that will meld the two Courts into one and bind the Crown Heirs -- Princess Eilidh of the Solar Court and Prince Oleander of the Lunar Court -- in matrimony, but just as Elfame prepares to rejoice, a dark enchantment is placed upon the future High King.

Not it falls to his brother, Astrophel, to assume the throne, but the new Lunar Heir is far from a willing replacement. Determined to escape a destiny that was never meant to be his, he teams up with the brother he loves, the betrothed he loathes, the exile he saved and the mayfly he is determined to resent in order to break the messenger's curse.

Twelve-hundred years ago, the first king of Sacreon led a rebellion against an empire of witches. The war for who would rule next continues to this day. A false guise of peace came over Ert after two genocides, but there is no one so foolish as to claim the fighting is done. A prophecy claims that war will return to Ert when the moons are full once again on Ascenday. That day is growing closer now, and there is not a fool in the warring nations who does not dread its coming. In the midst of this all, the heirs to Sacreon struggle to find their place in this world of kings and knights and gods and elves and witches. A princess falls for someone she cannot hope to have, prince travels south to broker an alliance, a warrior seeks vengeance for the death of her sister. and the heir to a long forgotten kingdom quests for glory. Behind all of this, one man journeys north to an island of long forgotten magic with plans of justice, and The Wolf Witch goes west, searching for the one who can stop this war and unite Ert once again: The Silver Girl. Note: The Wolf Witch is meant to be a prequel to this book, and Sora will make an appearance, but she will not be a main character. By the way I take huge inspiration and influence from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones so if you like that you'll probably like this (and my other writings I hope). Cover created by the most excellent @apprehensiveanne. It's very cool.
