The Sultanate of Oman became the first Middle Eastern country to adopt ISO 9000, the international standard management certification. Oman's president, Qaboos bin Said al Said, had the idea of introducing ISO 9000 to Oman in early 1988. Oman's Ministry of Industry and Commerce quickly formed a committee to develop Oman's first standards for ISO 9000. The ministry also appointed a National Coordinator to oversee the project. All Rights Reserved
