Some said the world would end in fire...

They were right.

After a devastating nuclear war, America becomes a desert landscape. The forests are dead. The rivers are dry. The Burning, a fever brought on by radiation, sweeps through the land, killing indiscriminately, and no one can figure out how it spreads or how to protect themselves from it. There are whispers about a woman, an epidemiologist before the war, who survived the initial bombing, who kept her lab up and running, who is working on a cure for the Burning; but no one knows if the stories are true, or if the woman even exists.

Jal Richards has survived with her family and best friend, Julian, for years on their secluded homestead, mostly safe and provided for by the land around them and by the caches of supplies that her father, a wealthy surgeon in the time before the war, began stockpiling as soon as he heard about the possibility of the conflict.

When Jal's father contracts the Burning, Jal and Julian must brave the desert land, on the hunt for a cure that may be only a myth. They don't know what they'll find at the end of their journey.

The only way to find out is to begin.

Ashes

33 parts Complete

Book 2 in the Burning Series: the sequel to Dust. The world is changing. There used to be men, and there used to be monsters. The line between the two is blurred now. Long ago, the earth spun in a constant cycle. There was life. There was hope. It is no longer such. Humanity cowers beneath glass domes in the midst of the desert, afraid of radiation that no longer pollutes the air. But there are darker things hiding in the wilderness now. Wild things. Cursed things. Burning things. Yet, not all is lost. Ashes, ashes. We all fall down sometimes. But what happens when you can't stand again?
