I looked back at Poppy. She looked terrifying. Her eyes were red and teary, teeth barred in a way it showed off every one of her sharp canines. She was standing in a way that it looked like she was about to pounce and rip the very fur off of the two Guards. I realized how offended she would've felt hearing Matthias's words.

But even though she looked dangerous, the truth was that next to no wolf can stand up to the Guards in a fight, other than our leader, perhaps.

But more than being worried if she would actually try to fight the Guards, I was still shocked at the words that Mathhias the Guard had initially said.

 Probably not ever again.

I'd probably not see Poppy ever again.

I was worried, shocked, and guilty. I felt a mixture of emotions. I didn't know what to do.

The guards, finally being done with their talk, grabbed me by their rough muzzle, and walked leisurely, while Poppy ran behind them. When I managed to get a glimpse backward, the anger that was fuelling her just a second ago had completely vanished.

Her eyes were wide and anxious; her teeth were still barred, although not with anger, but with a tinge of worry. After a few unsuccessful attempts at stopping the Guards by blocking their path and biting their well-protected legs, she lost all hope and began to shout for me.

WATTPAD BOOKS EDITION There are imperfect moments in every life-but sometimes, there are perfect accidents . . . What's the point of pretending nothing has changed when everything has? It's the last summer before college, and Jonas Avery knows he should be excited. Instead, he hides out at home, avoiding his friends, his family, and everything that resembles his old life. Because nothing will be normal again-because of The Accident, when everything started falling apart. Brennan Davis knows she needs to stand up and face her anxiety-the deep, dark, debilitating dread that rules her everyday life. Because what stops her from going out into the world and just living is going to get a whole lot worse. She's leaving for college in the fall, where she'll be confronted with even more to worry about. To get back up sometimes you have to fall down, hard . . . When Jonas crashes into Brennan-in a harmless, albeit embarrassing fender bender-the two teens connect in ways they never expected. As friends, they help each other overcome their biggest falls and faults, and soon discover that while love can't fix everything, it's sometimes a place to start. Sensitive, wry, and unabashedly authentic, The Opposite of Falling Apart isn't about finding perfection in another person or fixing the things we think are broken. Instead, Micah Good has penned an enchantingly honest novel about accepting the very pieces of ourselves that make us unique, whole, and undeniably human.
