Lydia Parker is the best and brightest of Casmir House. But when she's chose to compete in a series of challenges to become the keeper of a world key, Lydia's magic is tested as well as her patience especially after she summons a dead prince from another world to be her Champion. A dead prince who acts as if his is above everyone and makes her swear not to fall in love with him for the duration of the competition.

Liam belongs to what is considered the worst magic house on campus. Lazarus House and its Mages are looked down on and treated like dangerous animals. Literally. Their kind has the potential to become deadly beasts know as Chimera. But if Liam and his Champion can win this competition, he could change the way transfiguration Mages are viewed forever.

Kavan can't get out from under the burden of his family's great name. Their reputation holds him to the highest standard, limiting his activities, hobbies, and even his personality. When Kavan is paid off with the chance to make a new name for himself by competing for the world key and systematically murdering the other key holders in the magical world, he accepts. Quickly Kavan learns he can barely control his vicious Champion and that not everything about her is poisonous.
