Lyla is 17, and very smart, scientists want to test her intelligence, but she doesn't want to be a rat in a maze left to find the cheese. And she doesn't want to be someone's stupid little experament.
Darik and Lawrence may be her only friends, now, or at least until she finds Uriel and his son.
