[ Book 1 ] 

After Ladybug saves Adrien and his father from an attempted robbery, the two teens get close and start dating in secret. 

Months pass and no one has caught on to their secret relationship- that is until Marinette (as Ladybug) makes the mistake of visiting Adrien at a photoshoot- where they're caught kissing by obsessive fans. Their relationship is exposed city-wide and Ladybug is forced to give up her miraculous when Hawkmoth discovers her secret identity. 

To keep Adrien safe, she makes the difficult choice to break up with him and says goodbye to Cat Noir, ultimately giving up their partnership. Ladybug soon disappears from the spotlight, leaving Cat Noir to protect Paris alone, and he soon falls into a deep depression.

After Hawkmoth attacks Marinette, she turns to Cat Noir for safety, and soon enough she's living in the most protected place in Paris: the Agreste mansion.
