Instead of the pomegranate seeds keeping Nico alive when he was captured and kept in a jar in Mark of Athena, it was Anubis deciding to inhabit his body to save his life. Afterwards, the god lies dormant within Nico's subconscious, but starts to wake up during the aftermath of the battle against Gaea.
Not canon compliant with The Trials of Apollo.
