I ran to his body lying on the floor unmoving. As I neared his face my heart stopped, it was pale white and his eyes were staring up to the ceiling unblinking. I dropped down onto my knees and put my fingers to his throat looking for a pulse. There was nothing. He was dead. I buried my head into his chest, breathing in his scent one last time, before they took him away, before they took him away from me.
