The 2021 World Motorsport Championship battle has geared to a higher cog in the rain of fire. As Mercedes prepared for another dominating fray with Red Bull trailing behind looking for blood, I looked upon the eyes of three equally unique newcomers that had replaced ailing teams-all were right next to each other on the paddocks.
Donned in blend of grey and green shirt, Elise Takakura strolled from the workstation back to where Yvonne Guilloux's car sits. She heads to meet Peugeot Sport team advisor Leroy Deveux, a man who shared similar thoughts upon dominating the midfield before the sport itself. Not a bad move for a team backed by Stellantis. But within it, a cold war between Guilloux and second driver Egizia Carucci is brewing.
Next to Guilloux's garage door is Venla Nieminen of Toyota Gazoo Racing-who was talking with Mercedes test driver Ami Kisaka. Her boss, Erina Matsumoto, and also their backers from Toyota, looks forward to clench a space in the midfield before moving up to the winners this season. Nieminen is retained to be involved, but the team had begun to shift course towards the talented rookie, Andreia Nunez.
Just to the right of Carucci's garage is a newbie team from Japan, headed by ex Red Bull driver Midori Honda. She's my boss, an engineer at times, a mentor, and also my mother. Completing our small team is Nicole Seidl, a talented driver and also a friend of mine, and senior test driver Masahiro Katayama. With backings from Honda and Spoon Sports, our team, TYPE ONE Racing Honda, looks forward to enter Q2 and step up to the midfields.
I'm Kaoru Honda, a WMC driver for TYPE ONE Racing Honda. This season will be my first best drive of my life among the storm of motorsport politics and swells.
