"Y-you're married?"
It wasn't a question. It was a statement, spoken like an acknowledgment of something he didn't want to believe. Sayantika lifted her head, her face a mask of indifference, while Vedikaa looked up at both of them, confusion etched into her young features.
"Were. I was married." Her voice was steady, emotionless.
She gripped Vedikaa's hand and began to walk away, but Abhiansh, desperate for answers, grabbed her wrist, halting her steps. The touch sent a shock through them both, years of unsaid words trapped in that single gesture. She turned back, her gaze falling to his hand on her wrist, then lifting to meet his eyes.
"It would be better if you left my hand, Mr. Shakhawat. You're here for your work," she said coldly, her words like ice. With a sharp jerk, she freed herself from his grip, and walked away, leaving him to collapse under the weight of everything left unspoken.
As she disappeared from view, a broken whisper slipped from his lips. "I'm sorry, Sayantika."
