Altair is a young Sun Warrior apprentice. Well, he won't be an apprentice for much longer anyway. He's trained to be a Swordfighter, or maybe an Assassin. But when he's chosen to be a Dragonslayer, Altair is beyond excited. Then after a while, after he's forced to kill a small, helpless dragonkit, he learns that being the Tribe's Dragonslayer isn't as great an honor as he thinks it to be.

A voice came through to my head, more a whisper than a normal voice. Uncle Waller stood up and walked away. I embraced the cloak, my tears falling on it, as I remembered my fathers scent. "I don't know what happened... But I promise you this Father, I will find the person who did this to you, and make it pay for taking you away from our family". I swore with anger burning in my heart.
