The Curse of Cupid

A twist on the origins and tale of the Cupid we know and love.

Luther has roamed the earth for centuries. He's seen and heard it all. He's used his arrows on enough combinations of humans to find some sort of entertainment. He's used to causing trouble and remaining unseen. To put it simply, Luther is bored. He doesn't understand how he ended up on this planet, with these arrows, without anything to do but induce this thing called "love." If you ask him, the concept of love is ridiculous. Just an excuse the humans use to find some joy in their mundane lives. Or unbearable pain, Luther has seen both.

Centuries of roaming brings Luther to an unlikely edge of the world, in the presence of an annoying child who just won't leave him alone. Amidst the newfound chaos, Luther finds intrigue with the child's older brother. A seemingly simple man that elicits curiosity Luther can't put his finger on. Simple curiosity has always entertained him, he thinks, it's about time he messes with someone new.

As the years pass by, a developing danger threatens to end the planet and its inhabitants. Luther is tasked with one thing and one thing only: Find the simple man's soulmate and bring them together. Easy enough, Luther believes, but finds more obstacles than he anticipated.

For the simple man is not a simple man at all, and Luther cannot bring himself to give up the first person he learns to love.

As the end of the world nears, Luther faces a dilemma he never considered. Would he rather take what's rightly his or save the world?
