This book is just a fun, I'm-really-bored, kind of book. Kanonikos is a nation thought to be independent and rule the world. Every year, 12 year olds are lined up according to grades. The fifty lowest 12 year olds, known as the Losses, are thrown out into the Deep Forest to die the day of the Truss. Little does Kanonikos know that a community that calls themselves the Minors is taking the Losses and training strange creatures with weird powers to listen to them. For instance, there is the schnizzle, a small, white, furry creature that melts ice and lays ice where there is none. He can permanently freeze any surface. There's even a dongbungle, a small but vicious creature that eats his enemies. Why the Minors? You may ask, and many of the Losses ask the same question. They call themselves the Minors because they might have been former Losses, but they're bigger than that. They aren't majors though. They know the day will come when they rise up and can call themselves the Majors. Wesley McRay, age 12, a boy with an imagination too big to survive in Kanonikos has just become a Minor and at a time when they need him most.

After the house, life just isn't the same. Everyone wants to know where the rest of Kendall's friends went. How can she explain something she doesn't even understand? She is in love with Mark, how can she live without him? What will she do with a ton of her friends trapped in another dimension? She can't even function without them. Her and her remaining friends set off in search of a way to take back what was once theirs. With the help of two new friends, they find their way to an abandoned train station that just might lead them to what they are looking for. Mark can't take his mind off her. He doesn't know what to do with himself, every day is the same thing on repeat. They are just sitting and waiting for something that's never going to happen. Already being half dead, they have nothing left to lose. They stumble upon three girls, who just might be the answer to their problems. The friends who didn't make it out, they stick together. They are prepared to do everything in their power to get back home and get out of wherever they are. With winter coming on fast, the cold is stronger than ever. It bites at their flesh, making every step harder than the last. They are running out of time, they have to do something. Book 2 of "Under The Floorboards" is told by both Kendall and Mark, alternating every other chapter. The challenges they faced in the house are nothing compared to the cold, starvation, and creatures they have to face within an abandoned train station. Both groups set out, in search of each other. Soon enough, they realize how close together they were all along. The same question is still left unanswered; will they make it out alive? ------------------------------------------------------ Be sure to read "Under The Floorboards" to understand this book.
