Academy City. A large city in Japan that is comprised completely of research centres and all types of schools. 80% of everyone there are students while 60% of those students are superpowered psychics with a variety of powers from teleportation to pyrokinesis.
Mikoto Misaka is 3rd ranked level 5 in the entire world with her title being the same as her ace move: The Railgun. Because her shocks can reach up to a billion volts she believes that she is a force to be reckoned with. At least that's what she thought until recently.
Beau Jones is just a lowly level 3 Technopath at A certain high school. At least he wished that was his story, but of course, it's not that simple. Most of his troubles with a name: Mikoto Misaka. Once he meets the girl behind the name he is put to the test when he has to...
