Daisy Mallory still pursues her young dreams of learning about space, but she has long quit MIRAH. It's been ages since she's worked for them, but one day she comes back for one final voyage that she hopes will stop all of the alien attacks once and for all. All she needs to do if find out who the impostor is and work out a plan from there.
But unseen obstacles stand in the way. Whether it be keeping yourself alive when you're directly putting yourself in the spotlight or the feeling that something bigger lingers underneath the surface.

Only an hour ago they were set on selecting anyone but me. What made them change their mind so quickly? "We were wrong about you, Genesis," the woman said. "We now believe you have the potential to do what your unlucky peers could not. However, you should know that there is no room for mistakes." Nareem leaned forward and picked up his chin. On a normal basis, he was about as intimidating as a rabbit. Now, though, he was pretty close to the office cat's level. "Don't mess this up for us, Miss Duri. Otherwise the consequences will be a lot worse than death." --- Genesis has always wanted to lead a mission to the Polus Space Station, orbiting a Jupiter moon millions of miles away. While each attempt to get there has been compromised by the scheming, violent Conclave, Genesis's hopes to become the next captain of the Skeld have not once faltered. When she finally gets the opportunity of a lifetime, Genesis quickly discovers that, despite her caution, all is not what it seems. The door slid open without a sound and I found myself punched in the gut. All along the walls were pictures of friends and family. How could I take this away from someone? All of this opportunity and hope? Who was I to decide that he should die? I saw fearful grey eyes staring up at me. "I'm sorry about this. It'll be over soon." Looking away, I slit his throat. His body fell to the ground with a thud and I took a step back. I had just killed someone whose name I didn't even know... K'dela has always been trained to always follow orders. No matter how you think about it, no matter how wrong it seems to be, never, ever, question it. Your life might depend on it. But when orders are to kill others, doesn't it mean that you're sacrificing others, potentially thousands of others, just to save one life; yourself?
