It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. It is also a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man NOT in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a RICH wife. The latter is unfortunately true for William Drake, the Marquess of Pemberton. The follies of his father, The Duke of Sunderby, have caused the entire Dukedom to be on the verge of collapse. When he discovers a secret affair has left him with an unknown brother, and the Duke passes away unexpectedly, Lord Pemberton (now the new Duke of Sunderby) is pressured to find a wife sooner than expected. Only one caveat - she must be rich. Lady Georgiana, the daughter of an Earl, is fiercely independent. Her first Season came and went without much fanfare. No suitor catching her eye and with her father still alive and two healthy older brothers, she doesn't require a husband right away and is content to be in their care. That is, until she is face to face with the brooding Lord Pemberton who makes her question all her deepest desires. The only problem is that he needs to marry for fortune and not love. Will she be able to save both of their futures?
