Seventeen year old Haven Cross is surprised one night to find her parents arguing with a strange woman in the back alleys of Raleigh, NC. She wonders who this lady is and why she seems scared for their lives. Within days of their conversation, her mom and her are on the run from a mysterious man named Gabriel and his powerful followers. Haven enters the secret world of the Gifted, where she learns that her parents' pasts were all but the truth, and that ignorance is no longer the bliss it used to be.
