Ashton is a Necromancer, well almost. A Necro is born when a witch 'gets it on' with a spirit of the dead, or when two Necromancer's have a child. This means that some of them are half witch, half spirit, though no one has the powers of witchcraft. All except for Ashton. He is an anomaly, and has to keep that side of himself hidden or else he will be shunned and hated by the whole Necromancer community for his abnormality. The only people who know are his parents and his three best friends, Calum, Michael and Luke. *********************************************************** In the woods of his school, 'The Academy of the Necromatic Arts', the place where all young Necromancers learn to control their powers over death, Ashton meets a very troubled ghost called Hazel. Wanting to help her, he befriends Hazel, even though their relationship would be frowned upon by many. As their bond grows stronger, Hazel's urge to pass over becomes less and less and Ashton's willingness to help diminishes as well, even though they both know that the longer a ghost stays on the living side of the veil, the more of their being leaves until they are gone for good. Will they find a way for Hazel to stay with Ashton or are they both doomed to die? Because everyone knows, a Necromancer falls in love only once, and to be without them means to cease existing....
