Long Awaited

When I was in fourth grade, I experienced my first crush. Unable to keep these new feelings to myself, I shared all about him to my mom while she washed the dishes that night. At bedtime, my mom told me, "the boy you'll marry one day is alive out there somewhere. It might be a long time until you meet him, but you can pray for him today." After that, every night and sometimes during the day whenever I wondered about him, this boy I had never met but would one day marry, I would pray for him. "Dear God, please keep him safe." "Please give him a good day." "Let him be happy."

Then one day, I met him.
