Castiel is an angel. Not the type of angel that lives in heaven and serves God type. The type of angel that was brought onto Earth to serve people. It is said that God brought his children down from heaven to learn more about human kind since many of the angels sincerely believed they were better than one of his other creations. God brought many angels, including his own sons, down with him to discover the human way of life. Many angels, including Castiel, viewed it as punishment once he began to understand.

Dean is an angel. After his parent's tragic death, both his and his brother's, Sammy, lives begin to change in a downward spiral. Sammy is a mute while Dean is emotionally detached.

How will meeting one another change both Castiel and Dean?
