What if Melody never became a ghost?

After a tragedy that changed her life eternally, Melody Pianissima is shocked when she unexpectedly wins a mansion in the mail- that is, her family's own mansion that had burned down five years ago. Setting out to find answers as opposed to whatever happened to the Pianissima family, Melody ventures to the mansion only to find herself trapped-and only she can get herself out. Well... Maybe not just herself.

Luigi also gets a slip in the mail when he wins a contest-a contest he never entered. His prize? The majestic Pianissima Mansion. But when he arrives at his new "humble home", he gets more than he bargined for-the nefarious King Boo, in which he'd defeated, has kidnapped his brother, Mario.
On the plus side, his new friend Melody Pianissima is with him, and so is Professor E. Gadd, who supplies him with the Poltergeist 3000, allowing him to suck up ghosts. But it's not just about the ghosts.

Will Melody find the answers to what led to her family's deaths? Will Luigi save Mario? Or will the king of the Boos claim both their lives...
