This is a story in which the castes are still real, and more pronounced than ever.
Adeen is a Six. She's almost at the bottom of the caste system, and the number that separates her from the Eights seems to mean nothing. Adeen and her family still starve, and they still have to resort to wrong methods in order to survive. Adeen is a rebel. She has been one since she was a kid, and is one of the highest ranking teenagers in it. When the prince's selection starts, the rebels decide they need someone in the inside, and Adeen seems to be the girl for the job.
But then Adeen arrives at the Palace and starts her life as a Selected. In musty dungeons, old libraries and blooming gardens Adeen finds herself. And nothing is ever the same.
