Having been confined in a hospital most of her life because of cancer, Valeria Valentina Vagankov-Epifaño wanted to be free and live her life when she finally survived the disease. But with her controlling grandparents and her mother, who's tolerating them, saying it's for Val's own good, living free may seem like a dream. So she ran away to her father's family. She's not entirely welcome with her half-sister and step-mom's hostility, but at least she can freely dream of the life she wants when she's with her father.

However, Val may not have seemed to have run far enough when something attempting to control her life caught up to her again. Following a careless incident she caused, Val was punished by being the note-taker of the most unbearable dyslexic guy she ever met, Axl Ivan Fontanilla. The unpleasant guy who happens to be her sister's crush now ends up becoming the bane of her existence.
