Dream is only twenty one when he becomes king of the realm. Alexa, George and Sapnap, his lifelong friends, watch a boy who was not even sure who he was struggle to come to grips with his newfound power.
Alexa is twenty when Dream crowns her as his queen. As the realm descends into chaos around them, she needs to make sense of her growing feelings for her best friend, and help him find himself before the power goes to his head.

"I'm going to sit on my throne to sort this out. You three better be ready to defend us, something tells me you'll be forced to before the day's out."
"I'm ready," Sapnap nodded immediately. "But why do you need to sit on your throne to sort things out?"
Dream turned to look at his friend, studying him for a second before responding.
"This is a grab for power, Sapnap," he spoke evenly. "Schlatt has a flair for the dramatic, but he's about to find out that I do too. He's going to bow before me, or I'll snap his neck."
Bad made a sudden noise that sounded like a gas leak, and his dark eyes grew wider.
"Good to know, Dream. All the violence is happening today, then."
Dream shook his head, a rueful smile gracing his features for half a second.
"I wish. This is only the beginning, Bad. And you know it."
