There are three things Kingsley Jade Shacklebolt hates the most:
1. Her name.
2. Her ex-best friend.
3. The summer after her fourth year, also known as the summer Cedric Diggory died.
At the end-of-term feast, Dumbledore had said there were five stages of grief they'd likely be going through; denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Jade strongly disagreed. Grief was all those things and more, crumpled into one giant clusterfuck of misery that had been plaguing her for weeks on end. Her first love was gone, and he'd been murdered before their furtive romance could escape empty corridors and broom cupboards.
When Jade learns that her father is part of a secret organization called the Order of the Phoenix, she's determined to become a member and get Cedric the justice he deserves. The only downsides? Kingsley would rather poke a sleeping dragon than let his daughter be in such danger. That, and she's the only Slytherin in a house full of Gryffindors who don't trust her, but none of them nearly as much as Harry Potter.
