Azalea Cosmos would rather believe her psychosis is from all the drugs she's been abusing than the disorder she was diagnosed with, the disorder her father has: bipolar type 1 with psychotic features. Mary Casiano injects anabolic steroids into her muscles, reminding her of how her mother would inject heroin into her veins. Despite trying, she knows she can't run fast or far enough to escape her scurrilous past, the memories of her mother selling her virginity to her step-daddy to afford her drug of choice―and to fulfill his request to prove her love for him, above anyone. Virginia Karlsen has become increasingly obsessed with what lies beyond the blue sky she watched her mother fall from, her tangled in her parachute, plummeting to her death. She snorts more and more coke to stay up at all hours of the night, exploring with her telescope. Just one new discovery would make her eternally happy-so she believes. The young women meet at Horizonhab, a rehab for women, young and old, to foster bonds and personal growth from shared experiences-but some of the experiences shared are sheer horror. The deep roots behind the hankers to latch onto a coping mechanism as powerful and dangerous as an illicit drug become clear as more stories are shared.
