Avery Grace never had a family, or anything close to it. She grew up an orphan and was told that it was by "God's grace" she was alive, and so she was called Avery Grace. However, she didn't quite see this "grace" when she was kidnapped from her apartment in New York she shared with her boyfriend, Max. After three years of torture and experiments, she was rescued by an organization called S.H.I.E.L.D., emerging from that hell with a pair of wings and powers she had no idea how to use.

Powers she was born with, apparently, but laid hidden deep within her as well as an early childhood she barely remembered before the orphanage.

She is swept into this new world of The Avengers and all the dangers associated with this odd group of even stranger people. Then, an even harder mystery to unravel about her past, where she came from, and who she was came to light.

When an invention takes an evil turn for the worse and trouble arises, how will Avery help? And when startling news of her true parentage is brought to light, who will guide her? And more than that, Steve Rogers is more than he seems to be.
